New High School

High Schools & Technical Centers
Windham School District retained Lavallee Brensinger Architects to design their new high school after investing two years on the project with another architect. The work began with comprehensive reprogramming to reduce the size of the facility while retaining all program areas, and adding several features. The building footprint had to fit within the prior site plan which had already begun construction. The schedule was accelerated to meet the District’s commitments.
In September 2009, the new award-winning high school opened to rave reviews. The light-filled environment is full of unique and exciting spaces, stimulating students to challenge the status quo, and elevate their goals for achievement. The open Main Street which anchors all academic wings and the public assembly spaces such as the gymnasium, auditorium and dining commons, invites students and teachers to connect, socialize, and grow in a non-institutional environment.
