The Project
Lavallee Brensinger Architects was selected to provide visioning and planning services in order to determine the feasibility of adding onto the existing library or building a new library on a new site. After several months of meetings with the trustees and members of the community, it was decided to keep the library at the existing location and expand.
The solution provides for additional services, several small meeting rooms, dedicated space for the teen and children programs, genealogy space, a business center, Friends of the Library space, and a large meeting room that can function as a maker space. The design respects the existing historic library and wraps an addition on two sides while resolving all accessibility issues and separating vehicular from pedestrian traffic.
