River Valley Community College of Keene and Claremont, New Hampshire, will complete its first full academic year in the newly renovated Claremont Academic Center this month. The renovations, designed by Lavallee Brensinger Architects, provided great improvements to over 85% of the existing building.
The project included the design of new spaces for faculty offices, allied health labs for Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Respiratory Therapy and Polysomnography programs, with lecture-style and seminar classrooms. In support of modern innovations in teaching pedagogies, technology-rich collaborative learning classrooms were created. A new cafe doubles as a learning space, replacing the existing Falcon Room dining area as a place where students, faculty, staff, and groups can both dine as well as hold events and gatherings.
River Valley Community College offers over 40 associate degrees and certificates in Claremont, Keene, and online, and College President Dr. Alicia Harvey-Smith is optimistic toward future growth with the upgraded campus building.
“River Valley Community College is focused on student success and that, in large part, is impacted by the teaching and learning environment. The recent renovations have elevated the learning environment into a welcoming, fresh and effective instruction space. I invite the community to stop by for a tour of our campus,” said President Harvey-Smith.
