The Project
Colby College engaged Lavallee Brensinger to provide feasibility and full design services to renovate several existing floors within this cherished 1938 structure, converting classroom and administration programs to student residence space. The multi-phased renovation provided students with single, double, and suite-style living arrangements, while providing the college with maximum flexibility and space utilization. Additional amenities included support spaces such as a student lounge, quiet study, kitchenette, new shower facilities, laundry, and storage.
Unique to Roberts Union Hall was the opportunity to refurbish the covered north porch. The result allows students to enjoy views of the College’s impressive athletic facilities and the famous Rangeley Lakes region beyond.
Originally targeting LEED Silver certification, the project received LEED Gold certification.
