Maine Medical Center
Specialty Care Unit (SCU2)

Healthcare:
Acute Care

This project encompassed the renovation of Maine Medical Center’s existing Specialty Care Unit (SCU2). Challenges included the inability to increase room size as the number of beds could not be decreased. Project goals

  • Improved patient experience and family accommodations
  • Improved staff working conditions
  • Face-lift for the existing unit

The result of this multi-phased, occupied renovation is a much improved patient and staff experience. The fixed medical gas column was removed and replaced with wall mounted columns on both sides of the bed. This solution provided more space for family members and equipment for high acuity patients.
