The University of Vermont Medical Center hired Lavallee Brensinger and Jacobs Consultancy to provide comprehensive renovation services, programming  through construction services, for the existing Genomic Medicine Laboratory on its Burlington, VT campus.

To meet regulatory requirements, the project scope focused on designing dedicated space for three major Genomic Care Pathways: Cancer, Pharmacogenomics, and Unidentified Inherited Disorders. The 5,000 sf lab space includes: laboratory, clinical and office space.

“In addition to its expected benefits for patients, the establishment of this laboratory also provides an unparalleled opportunity for health care services research, including whether accessing genomic information leads to better outcomes for patients and more cost-effective care,” said Frederick Morin, MD, dean of the Larner College of Medicine. “The way we are bringing genome sequencing into clinical medicine should make UVM a model system for others to emulate.”
