As a key component of the City of Manchester New Municipal Complex project, Lavallee Brensinger Architects designed a new fleet maintenance facility for the City’s 500 pieces of Public Works, Police, Fire, Parks, and general City vehicles and equipment. Servicing of these vehicles was previously housed in five separate facilities, each with various maintenance equipment, but none with the adequate and complete means for proper fleet maintenance.
The final design in one of the largest fleet maintenance facilities in northern New England and includes: office, administrative, and parts management area, centralized fluids distribution, exhaust evacuation systems, mobile lifts, lower level undercarriage maintenance, welding area, electronics room for lights/radio work, tire carrousels, engine/transmission room, paint booth, and a drive through vehicle wash to handle small sedans to large ladder trucks. The new mechanical systems include radiant in-floor heat, a highly efficient heat recovery ventilation system, and a quality working environment for employees.
