The Project
This extensive, highly collaborative project with York Hospital was conducted over the course of two years and resulted in a unique, state-of-the-art patient room design model to be implemented in the Hospital’s renovated in-patient suites. The goal was to develop an innovative, next generation patient room based on evidence-based design principles. The design team worked closely with Hospital staff, volunteers, Community and Patient Focus Groups, as well as key design consultants, to conduct extensive research into the best available sources of information regarding patient room design. This included multiple site visits to healthcare facilities in New York and Maine as well as industry conference events.
