The Project
One City Hall Plaza offers 15 floors of Class-A office space and three floors of structured parking in its prominent downtown location. Lavallee Brensinger has given careful consideration to the building’s impact on Manchester’s urban environment. Although it is Manchester’s (and New Hampshire’s) tallest building, its base is sensitively designed to preserve the scale and character of the low-rise commercial streetscape. Site lines to the existing City Hall are preserved by stepping the tower’s edges and a pedestrian plaza is created to enliven the development’s street front. Rendered in the brick and granite materials of Manchester’s historic millyard district, City Hall Plaza is a welcomed example of how quality design can interpret a rich architectural history in a successful contemporary development.
